HONEY SHOW SECTION

RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE HONEY SHOW SECTION
1) Exhibitors must label all exhibits with the labels provided as follows: -
Honey: 1” (2.5cms) between the bottom of the jar and the label.
Mead: 1” (2.5cms) between the bottom of the bottle and the label.
Wax cake: Label to be fixed on showcase or polythene bag.
Honey cake: Label to be fixed to doily.
Comb: Label to be fixed to top right-hand corner of showcase.
2) No exhibitor’s name, card, trademark or label may appear on any exhibit.
3) All honey must be the produce of the exhibitor’s own bees. Extracted honey must be exhibited in clear glass 1lb (454g)jars
of British Standard (Squat) design with standard lacquered screw caps. British Standard filters will be used to check colour.
4) Combs should be exhibited in the exhibitor’s own case.
5) Wax must be the produce of the exhibitor’s own bees and the wax rendered and prepared by the exhibitor or the exhibitor’s assistants.
6) Wax to be weighed by the judge.
7) Mead must be exhibited in plain clear glass bottles of approx 26 fl oz (76cl) capacity with rounded shoulders. The level of mead must be within ¾ ” (1.8cms) of the base of the stopper. Only white-topped cork stoppers should be used.
8) Exhibitors may make more than one entry in a class but no single entry may be shown in more than one class.
9) An exhibitor will be entitled to only one award in any one class.
10) Definitions: Soft Set Honey is honey which has been softened, stirred and allowed to reset.
Granulated honey is honey that is not soft set or creamed.
11) Open classes are open to any resident of the United Kingdom.
12) Exhibits must not be tasted or interfered with in any way during the show without the authority of the Stewards.
13) Any Rule not covered by the Rules and Regulations of the Honey Show Section will be in accordance with the Rules of
The Yorkshire Honey Show.
14) Entries on the form provided, by 28th July 2007. Entries made on the day of the show - extra 10p per entry.
15) Entry fee: 25p per item.
16) Staging of exhibits must be made by 9.30am on day of show.
