SHOW PONY CLASSES
Judge:- Miss L Cadman, Oldham
This show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) and all persons entering, competing or otherwise taking part in BSPS classes, whether or not members of the BSPS are subject to the Constitution and Rules of the BSPS, including the disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS.
This show is a qualifier for the 2008 BSPS Championship, held at the East of England Showground.
The first and second prize winners in classes 16 to 20 inclusive and 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in Class 21 will qualify, provided the pony is registered in accordance with Rule 23 and ridden by a junior showing member of the BSPS.
The highest placed 133cms in the Open 138cms Show Pony Class and the highest placed 143cms in the Open 148cms Show Pony Class will qualify for the 2007 BSPS Championships Show. (Riders must produce their card for the judge to sign whilst in the ring). The official BSPS number is 189/07

1 LEADING REIN PONY - MARE OR GELDING not exceeding 122cms (12hh), suitable for and to be ridden by a rider not to have attained their 7th birthday before 1 st January 2008. No child under the age of 3 may compete.
(In leading rein classes the rein MUST go directly from the bit to riders hands, with no extra aid or attachment to or on the saddle & the attendant MUST affix the lead rein to the NOSEBAND on which it MUST REMAIN WHILE THE PONY IS IN THE RING. Whilst in the ring, ponies must be led at all times.
2 FIRST RIDDEN PONY- MARE OR GELDING not exceeding 122cms (12hh,
suitable for and to be ridden by a rider not to have attained their 10th birthday
before 1 st January 2008. SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY. No cantering allowed
except for individual performance. Ponies must leave the ring at walk or trot.
WARD TROPHY to winner.
MINI_CHAMPIONSHIP :-1 st & 2 nd prize-winners from classes 1 & 2 to compete. Champion to qualify for the B.S.P.S. ‘Maestir Stud’ Champion of Champions.
3 BEST PONY - MARE OR GELDING not exceeding 128cms (12.2 hh) suitable for and ridden by a rider not to have attained their 13 th birthday before 1 st January 2008
4 BEST PONY - MARE OR GELDING exceeding 128cms (12.2hh) and not exceeding 138cms (13.2hh), suitable for and to be ridden by a rider not to have attained their 15th birthday before 1 st January 2008
5 BEST PONY - MARE OR GELDING exceeding 138cms (13.2hh) and not exceeding 148cms (14.2hh), suitable for and ridden by a rider not to have attained their 17 th birthday before 1 st January 2008.
CHAMPIONSHIP : 1st & 2nd Prizewinners from Classes 3, 4 and 5, winner will be awarded the Briar Rose Trophy and a sash, presented by Mr J Harrison.
Champion will qualify for the BSPS ‘David Manning’ Champion of Champions.
6 NOVICE SHOW PONY - not exceeding 148cms (14.2hh) suitable for and ridden by a rider not to have attained their 17 th birthday before 1 st January 2008 AND to be the correct age for the height of the pony they ride. SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY. Open to ponies 4 years old and over. For Novice rules see Section E in the BSPS 2008 Rule & Show handbook.
The WILSON TROPHY , presented by Miss G Wilson for the Best Novice Pony whose owner lives within a six mile radius of Emley Cross. (Map in Horse Section tent.)
